Most food trucks have a large amount of space on their exterior that isn't covered up by their own logo design or branding. Now, take a moment and compare a food truck's exterior to a NASCAR race car's exterior...Are you starting see where I'm going with this post?
Successful food trucks are able to serve hundreds of people each day. So wouldn't it make sense that certain companies would be willing to pay (or offer discounts) for those same people to be presented with their company's ad or a logo each time they eat at the food truck?
I think it makes perfect sense. The question becomes: how do the food trucks who are willing to devote a portion of their truck's exterior connect with the companies willing to pay to put their logo/ad on said space? I did some precursory research online, and I wasn't able to find any companies out there whose purpose is to act as the liaison between the companies and the food trucks. Darn.
So then what's a food truck to do?
I say take matters into your own hands and start talking to the companies you do business with everyday. If you're anything like us, you are really getting to know the people you rely on for your truck, equipment, food, supplies, etc. You should talk to them and ask if they would be willing to give you a discount for displaying their company logo on your truck. You need to present it to them in a "what's in it for them" scenario: give them an idea of how many people view your truck each day who would see their name/logo (remember--it's not just the people who actually stop and eat at your truck--it's everyone who SEES it!)
I see this as a win-win situation - food trucks are able to get a price break on the items they purchase and the company gets their name/logo out in front of an audience they might not have been previously able to reach.
What's the worst that could happen? They say no. No harm, no foul. But wouldn't it be worth your time to ask?
Awesome idea!! It just makes sense and is bound to catch on like gangbusters!!
